FibroCornea Study – Privacy Policy

1. Purpose
FibroCornea is a multicentre veterinary clinical research study evaluating the management of established corneal stromal fibrosis in dogs and cats.
This website provides participating veterinary centres with a secure platform for study enrolment, clinical follow-up, study documentation and clinical image management.
2. Data collected
The FibroCornea platform may collect and process:
• identification and contact information relating to participating veterinary centres and investigators;
• study identification numbers assigned to enrolled animals;
• clinical and ophthalmological data relating to enrolled animals;
• treatment and follow-up information;
• clinical photographs and ophthalmic imaging, including OCT images where applicable;
• technical information necessary for the operation and security of the platform.
The study platform is not intended to store unnecessary personal information relating to animal owners.
Participating investigators are responsible for ensuring that owner information and signed informed consent documents are managed and archived locally in accordance with applicable professional and legal requirements.
3. Clinical images
Clinical images collected during the study are used for research, assessment and documentation purposes related to the FibroCornea study.
Images are stored in a dedicated private Google Drive environment associated with the study and are accessible only through authorised study processes.
Investigators should avoid including unnecessary personally identifiable information in uploaded files.
4. Access to data
Access to the FibroCornea platform is restricted to authorised participating veterinary centres, investigators and study administrators.
Each participating centre is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of its account credentials and for ensuring that access is limited to authorised personnel.
5. Purpose of data processing
Study data are processed exclusively for purposes related to:
• conduct and management of the FibroCornea study;
• monitoring of enrolled cases;
• assessment of study outcomes;
• quality control;
• scientific analysis;
• preparation of scientific communications and publications.
Study results may be presented or published in aggregated or anonymised form.
6. Data storage and security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect study information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
Clinical images are stored using Google Drive services, while study information is managed through the secured FibroCornea web platform.
7. Data retention
Study data may be retained for the period necessary to conduct, analyse, document and publish the FibroCornea study and to comply with applicable scientific, ethical or regulatory requirements.
8. Owner consent
Before inclusion of an animal in the study, the participating investigator must obtain the owner’s informed consent using the study consent documentation.
Signed consent forms are retained by the participating veterinary centre and are not required to be uploaded to the FibroCornea platform.
9. Third-party services
The FibroCornea platform may use third-party technical services necessary for its operation, including hosting services, WordPress and Google services for secure storage of study images.
Use of these services is limited to the technical requirements of the study.
